Kottke comment etiquette

I like that the things Kottke points out here have more to do with tone and…directionality?…than with topical subject matter. A lot of comment guidelines seem to try to make certain topics off-limits, but that doesn’t always seem like the most useful lens. Also worth noting that “facilitating discussion” is a guiding principle but probably shouldn’t be the guiding principle—the guidelines here don’t necessarily provide explicit space for bothsidesism, for example. Which is good! tl;dr, I like the vibe.
